Joe Root Returns to England ODI side for Champions Trophy

Joe Root was set to come back for the champions trophy in absence of Ben Stokes, Ben Stokes suffered a hamstring injury which resulted in him missing the Champions trophy. One of the greats of modern day cricket ‘Joe Root’ has been called to the English Team. Last time both Joe Root and Ben stokes played was in the World cup held in India where the defending champion failed to defend their title.

Joe Root is a very experienced batsmen and can take matches away from any team at any given day. His addition brings strength to the batting department. Joe Root has 51 international centuries to his name.

Joe Root will join the England team for a tour to India before the champions trophy.

England has announced their squad for the champions trophy, their squad is a mix of experienced and new players. Players in England’s squad are:  Jos Buttler (c), Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, Jacob Bethell, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Ben Duckett, Jamie Overton, Jamie Smith, Liam Livingstone, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Saqib Mahmood, Phil Salt, and Mark Wood.

England will try to make a comeback from last worldcup’s defeat. The team has lost three ODI series after the world cup and will try to build up their momentum by winning the next series in India before going to the champions trophy.

Joe Root’s average in ODI is 47 and he is a very dangerous player. He can make England a very strong candidate in the upcoming champions trophy.
