Teams are finalizing and announcing their squads for the Champions Trophy 2025, scheduled to begin in February.
Many players are injured at this time like Jasprit Bumrah, Pat Cummins, Kuldeep Yadav, Saim Ayub, etc. – increasing the uncertainty of players and team combinations.
Fans are discussing probable squads for the upcoming tournament and are eagerly waiting for the official announcements.
In Pakistan, the Star Opener Saim Ayub’s fate is hanging due to Injury which he faced during the last test against South Africa.
However, his injury has opened door for forgotten players that can be brought back to the national team squad. Here’s the list of three forgotten players that might be making a way into the Champions Trophy 2025 squad.
- Imam-ul-Haq: Imam has been a very good opener and has opened in many matches along with Fakhar Zaman. He has been among the Top 3 ODI batsmen during 2023. The player is a star batsman and has been reliable for Pakistan Team.
- Shadab Khan: Shadab Khan has been a perfect all-rounder, he can bat, he can bowl and his fielding is already on point. Shadab has led Islamabad United towards victory in multiple PSL editions. Although he has gained much criticism due to bad performances of our spinners in ICC tournaments, PCB is considering his form while selecting the squad for the tournament.
- Usama Mir: Usama Mir has been a spinner for Pakistan Team like Shadab Khan and has also performed well in BBL and other tournaments. Shadab’s inconsistency with spin bowling has brought Usama Mir in the team, his journey with the national team seemed short.
Khushdil Shah is also being considered for the selection as a replacement for Saim Ayub. He will be joining the middle order of the team and Babar Azam will open for the team.
There are other options as well that PCB might explore like Shan Masood, Muhammad Usman and Abdullah Shafique.
